Notes: A smooth, fat-shanked billiard-type pipe this time, with battleship teak for the stem collar (see notes for pipe #49). About a half-dozen pinprick pits are largely hidden in the contrast stain but account for the grade B, along with some general grain irregularities. A nice piece of wood nonetheless, with loose swirling and birdseye on the front of the bowl and a smaller, tighter section of birdseye shank-side. Twenty-five dollars from the price of this pipe will be donated to the restoration fund for the battleship North Carolina.
